2024 SUMMER SERIES – ON SCALE
Every leader has a choice to either lead with intention or lead by accident. We need to streamline operations taking into consideration the human element to achieve organizational objectives. In this panel discussion, we will explore the overall concept of scaling and what it means to scale up, scale down, and/or scale out. Specifically, we will examine what should be scaled, how often, and by who with the goal of maximizing growth and revenue. Lastly, we will discuss effective models that evolve alongside to ensure revenues outpace costs. Together we prioritize and simplify.
Alana Walker Carpenter is a trailblazer. She has redefined what it means to lead, what success looks like, and the gift that love, compassion, and empathy can bring to the boardroom.
Serving in the capacity of CEO of Intriciti, Alana created and leads an organization to inspire business leaders to integrate their faith and business. Prioritizing relationships, collaboration, and stewardship, Ms. Walker Carpenter founded the Canadian Centre for the Integration of Faith & Business in 2024.
With relationships as her trademark, Alana makes generous space for all to have a seat at the table whether one has a little faith, a lot of faith, or no faith at all.
Prior to assuming her current roles, she practiced human resources for a downtown consulting firm.
Ms. Walker Carpenter holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario and a Post-Graduate Degree from Humber College of Applied Arts and Technology. She received numerous academic and leadership awards prior to, during, and upon graduation.
With well-earned accolades, she continues to live out her calling. In 2023, she was honoured as a Global Corporate Hero. In 2014, she was named one of the Top 100 Christian Leaders in Canada and was three times nominated for the Top 35 Under 35 Award.
Outside of the boardroom, Alana can be found cheering her teenage son Carter on at the baseball diamond and volleyball court. Ms. Walker Carpenter resides in Canada with her husband and best friend Kevin. Together, they serve on a number of local, national, and international boards.
Jennifer Alexander provides fractional CFO services to small to mid-sized businesses. Jennifer is a highly experienced financial and operations executive with a proven track record across a wide variety of industries. Jennifer has experience as CFO/COO with both seasoned and start-up organizations, helping companies identify growth potential and unlock efficiencies by developing clear growth plans that are adaptable to changing landscapes.
Jennifer also has extensive corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions experience, helping clients successfully position for the ultimate sale their company.
Jennifer offers fractional CFO advisory services through Thrive Strategy, Inc which she founded in 2020. Prior to Thrive Strategy, Jennifer was CFO/COO of Beau Lake and Tyers Foods International. Jennifer previously has worked at Ernst &Young Orenda Corporate Finance and Scotia Capital.
Jennifer lives in Mississauga, with her husband Michael, three children and dog.
Scott MacKenzie is a business development leader with over 25 years of experience in financial services. In addition to his role as President of Fidelity Clearing Canada, Scott sits on the IFIC Public Liaison Committee and is an active board member of Prosper Canada.
Before joining Fidelity, Scott spent ten years with Broadridge Financial Solutions as Vice President of Sales for their Canadian securities processing services division. Over his career, Scott has lived and worked in Canada and the U.S., contributing to the growth of public and private companies.
Scott graduated with honours from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. He holds the Partners, Directors and Senior Officers (PDO) designation and successfully completed the Canadian Securities Institute Conduct and Practices Handbook course.
Angie Peters is an inspiring and collaborative leader in Toronto’s social sector serving the communities where she grew up. In 2003, she left her executive role in telecommunications to work towards the end of poverty. She founded ZOË Alliance, an international social enterprise, before joining Toronto’s Yonge Street Mission in 2013 as President and CEO. In 2022, she hosted a Poverty Hack-a-Thon that has since birthed a city-wide multi-sector collaboration that is creating trust, action and momentum to build communities where everyone can thrive.
In 2024, Angie became a published author with the launch of her new book, Just Act: We are the Solution to Poverty, an inspirational guide for people, businesses and community organizations concerned about poverty to develop a measurable action plan to help address poverty.
