David Booth, Driving’s Senior Writer, has a Bachelor’s degree in engineering complemented by decades working as an automotive journalist and commentator. He has a cynic’s view of politics, a child’s wonder for anything powerful and an engineer’s curiosity about how things work, all crucial for dissecting and disseminating the technology the industry constantly springs on us. And for the record, he thinks hybridization is the future, worships at the altar of supercars and absolutely adores his motorcycles, so his perfect vehicle is a 700-horsepower plug-in with two wheels.
Sam Curry is an American ethical hacker, bug bounty hunter, and founder who is best known for his contributions to web application security. His participation in bug bounty programs notably led to the discovery of critical vulnerabilities in dozens of auto manufacturers, including Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Ferrari, and Toyota. In 2021, Curry led a team of security researchers investigating Apple, whose efforts revealed dozens of critical vulnerabilities in Apple services. In 2022, Curry’s consultancy, Palisade, was acquired by Yuga Labs, where he now works as a staff security engineer. Curry continues security research through ‘Hack Compute,’ an application security blog.
Sebastian Fischmeister performs systems research on joining safety and security for safety-critical systems. Key highlights of his research include a framework for real-time Ethernet, dynamic binary instrumentation for time-aware systems, real-time runtime verification, and attestation of hardware and software using side-channel analysis. He is now working on physics-based cybersecurity and zero-trust supply chain. Sebastian is a licensed Canadian Professional Engineer, and active in international standardization with SAE G-19 and global security guidelines with MITRE.
Yoav is responsible for leading Upstream’s strategic direction, culture and business execution. He brings over 20 years of experience in multinational high-tech companies and start-ups, having previously worked in key roles in global leading companies including Check Point, Juniper Networks and Broadcom. Yoav is an avid kite boarder and surfer.
